WRITER/ DIRECTOR Q&A

GS: What was the inspiration for your film?

MK: I had a dream about the films events happening to me, woke up and wrote the script.

GS: When did you conceive the idea for your film and how long did it take before it was realized?

MK: I wrote the first draft of the script, put it in a draw and forgot about it for a year.

Then upon finding it again, wrote another and set about producing it.

From shooting draft to films completion was about 2 months.

GS: What was the most challenging aspect of working in a short film format?

MK: Trying to fit an entire story into 7 pages.

There is no room for fluff.

If its not advancing story or building character get it out of there.

GS: What was the most challenging aspect of your production?

MK: Schedules.

Using two professional actors in the film really brought up the production value and sold the story.

But working around busy actors schedules can be tough.

GS: Do you have any advice for first-time filmmakers?

MK: Robert Rodriguez says that everyone has 7 bad movies in them and you have to get through that before you start making anything good.

I tend to agree, don’t be disheartened if your first, second or third film doesn’t turn out the way you wanted. So long as you are learning and improving each time you are on the track to success.
