Synopsis: Seattle-born/LA-based artist, producer, and multiinstrumentalist Max Bennett Kelly has teamed up with Yellowjackets star Ella Purnell for a unique cinematic experience in Junk Male – a short film/music video hybrid that chronicles the story of boxer Hollywood Thompson and his inner struggle with fearing his own power, which also serves as Ella Purnell’s highly-anticipated directorial debut.
In a surrealist Los Angeles where boxing replaces the entertainment industry, we follow Hollywood Thompson: a champion boxer who earned his title with only a single punch, but now refuses to fight. His girlfriend, Decency “Dee” DiMartini, works doubles to support them both as he spirals downwards. When his manager, Clauneck Rice, goes behind his back and signs him up for a high paying fight, a more sinister plan reveals itself. Hollywood faces an internal battle: is he truly a pacifist, or is there a deeper reason behind his reluctance to fight? ‘Junk Male’ features music from its companion EP by creator and lead actor Max Bennett Kelly, which plays in tracklist order throughout.
