DIRECTOR Q&A

OR: What was the inspiration for your film?

JT: Structural Unemployment. We wanted to expose the hard truths about the looming unemployment crisis and bring the country together to create new jobs for a changing economy. The simple truth is that the future of work and employment is changing faster than we ever could have predicted and we are not ready. As a result, America is headed for levels of Structural Unemployment that could irrevocably stall the engine of our economy.

OR: When did you conceive the idea for your film and how long did it take before it was realized?

JT: The idea for the film was conceived in mid-2015. From there it was full guns ahead on creating the creative and idea for animation.

OR: What was the most challenging aspect of working in a short film format?

JT: Telling a full, entertaining and educational story within a small amount amount of time was the biggest challenge. Plus also making it engaging for 5-6 minutes.

OR: What was the most challenging aspect of your production?

JT: For half of the team on this project, it was their first time working with animation. There is a huge learning curve when it comes to animation. Every film requires great attention to detail but animation takes that to an entirely different level. It made for a fun process but it was definitely challenging!

OR: Do you have any advice for first-time filmmakers?

JT: Be ready for surprises, challenges, road blocks and difficulties you couldn’t even imagine. But with that said, don’t let it bring you down. Keep working hard for your vision!
