Title: RT130 Engine Boss Preparation
Runtime: 14 min
Country: USA
Director: Martha Cameron Barrett
Placement: Award of Merit
Competition: March 31, 2018

Synopsis: Each year, the Los Angeles Fire Department trains all 3,000+ sworn members in wildfire survival. This is required training for all members, because on any day, at any time, an engine company could be deployed to a wildfire, not only in Los Angeles, but any where in the state of California.

Each year, wildfires ravage parts of the state and each year, they’re getting more severe. In 2017, the toll wildfires took was devastating. Scores of people died, including one firefighter. Communities sustained billions of dollars in damage, for which they are still trying to recover.

This film is part of the training the LAFD deploys to make sure wildfires don’t claim the lives of their firefighters as they deploy all over California, in the effort to save lives and property in the face of increasingly destructive and deadly wildfires.
