FILMMAKER Q&A – Andrea Lynn Nash – Writer, Director, Producer

GS: What was the inspiration for your film?

ALN: My own insecurities about love and how we can be our own worst enemy.

GS: When did you conceive the idea for your film and how long did it take before it was realized?

ALN: I conceived the idea in the form of a poem written a few years ago. Then 2018 I realized it could become something more and I adapted it into a short film and completed filming in Nov 2018 and finished editing March 2019.

GS: What was the most challenging aspect of working in a short film format?

ALN: This was my first project ever, so I’ve nothing to compare it too. But I expect creating likable characters and having relatable content with less time for exploring is the hardest part.

GS: What was the most challenging aspect of your production?

ALN: Sound editing. Wow. Outside scenes are massively difficult. Also perhaps shooting on a small budget in a short time frame.

GS: Do you have any advice for first-time filmmakers?

ALN: Take your time. Create a story board for directing and cinematography. Get people’s thoughts on the project before making it a reality. also, don’t expect perfection right away. I learned first hand how hard filmmaking actually is. Be patient.
