FILMMAKER Q&A – Christine Sloan Stoddard – Director, Writer, Actor

GS: What was the inspiration for your film?

CS: I was inspired by personal loss as much as the role digital communication plays in our lives. Digital communication is an ever-present medium that uses words but is also highly visual, which lends itself to filmmaking.

GS: When did you conceive the idea for your film and how long did it take before it was realized?

CS: I have had some version of this film sitting in my head for the past couple of years, but I finally shot it in 2019 and released it in 2020.

GS: What was the most challenging aspect of working in a short film format?

CS: Making the film intriguing and impactful with limited resources.

GS: What was the most challenging aspect of your production?

CS: Limiting the production to one talent—me!

GS: Do you have any advice for first-time filmmakers?

CS: Just go for it; the circumstances will always feel impossible, but scale your production to what’s feasible for you now or in the near future and make it happen.
