FILMMAKER Q&A – Jonny Caplan – Executive Producer, Director, Writer, Host

GS: What was the inspiration for your film?

JC: We discovered 1000’s of hard working and highly intelligent entrepreneurs, who were working on technologies that are going to change all of our future. We were shocked that 95% of these innovators never get discovered by the global markets, and the News, or Technology reporting, just isn’t interested in these companies until they hit a substantial milestone, such as an investment by Google, Facebook, etc.

The technologies they were creating include Flying Cars and Taxis, Robots for the Elderly, 3D Holographic Surgery and more, incredible products that are shaping the future of the planet. We were inspired to create TechTalk in order to showcase these emerging entrepreneurs to the global community.

GS: When did you conceive the idea for your film and how long did it take before it was realized?

JC: The concept was conceived in early 2018, it took us around 3 months to get the production off the ground, and then around 9 months to complete the entire production cycle for Season One (12 x 30 min Episodes). We have now optimized this process, creating Seasons in just 4 months.

GS: What was the most challenging aspect of working in a short film format?

JC: Being able to capture the whole story and snapshot of each Company in under 7 minutes.

GS: What was the most challenging aspect of your production?

JC: Moving location for every guest! So many unknowns, and technical challenges to overcome…lighting, sound, frames, set, equipment, etc.

GS: Do you have any advice for first-time filmmakers?

JC: Do your research…PLAN PLAN PLAN…choose an awesome film crew…and make sure you enjoy what you do!
