Synopsis: In a fictional, medieval nation undergoing religious reform, authorities round up four leading reformers and place them in a dismal prison cell where they await execution. As hope for worldly salvation fades, they must find any solace they can in their spiritual beliefs. However, in a last-hour reprieve, they are allowed to select only one of their number to face the ax man. Problem is, they must all agree whom that one person will be, and this proves to be a devastating challenge to their faith.
